Vancouver 3PL Provider FAQs
-
Vancouver is a premium market, so rates run a bit higher than other Canadian cities.
Warehouse rates often fall in the $20-30+ CAD per sq ft per year range, with pallet storage commonly around $18-25+ CAD per pallet per month. Pick-and-pack starts low for simple orders and climbs with complexity. You’re paying for port access, labour demand and limited industrial land. Our job is to make sure you’re actually getting value for that premium.
-
It depends on your freight profile. For import-heavy brands, Richmond can make a lot of sense. For domestic distribution, not always.
Richmond is close to YVR International airport and the Port of Vancouver, which reduces drayage time and helps with time-sensitive products. But you’ll pay some of the highest industrial rates in Canada for that convenience. If your volume is mostly B2C parcel or national retail replenishment, Delta, Surrey or Langley often deliver a better cost-to-performance ratio.
-
Plenty of local 3PLs support Canada-U.S. cross-border flows.
Metro Vancouver has strong options that offer bonded warehousing, customs support and regular cross-border LTL/FTL moves. Others operate in both Canada and the U.S. and can coordinate seamless two-country distribution. If it needs to cross the border, we already know who can do it and who can’t.
-
Vancouver is usually the most expensive industrial market in the country.
Vancouver’s warehouse rates commonly sit above Toronto and significantly above markets like Calgary or Montreal. The region has tight industrial vacancy, strong port demand and limited land availability, which all push pricing up. The key is choosing the right building and 3PL so you’re not paying for things you don’t need.

Choose Vancouver if Canada is your main market. Choose Seattle if the U.S. is.
Vancouver lets Canadian-bound products stay within Canada from day one, avoiding extra duties, double-handling and re-importing. You also get domestic Canadian parcel rates and shorter delivery times to Canadian customers. Seattle-area 3PLs win when your volume is mostly U.S. based and you want U.S. domestic carrier pricing. Some brands even use both, depending on their customer mix.
